Announcing Avant Griffith as Inaugural Director of Title IX

Chicago, IL - Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. announces the appointment of hermana Avant Griffith as the inaugural Director of Title IX. Avant joined the Fraternity at Ohio University, Eta Chapter, in Spring 2016. She possesses diverse experience working with cases involving domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, substance abuse, mental health, and Title IX. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Criminology from Ohio University and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in School Counseling with a concentration in urban student populations at Trinity Washington University. Avant is certified in Mental Health First Aid for adults and youth while pursuing certifications to become a diversity, equity, and inclusion specialist, as well as a trauma and crisis specialist. She is currently working as a child outreach worker providing developmental screenings to toddlers. Avant has also been a member of the Fraternity’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Resource Committee (SAPRC) since its inception.
The position for Director of Title IX is a result of collaboration with the Fraternity’s SAPRC and marks Alpha Psi Lambda’s next step towards education and prevention of sexual assault. The Director of Title IX will oversee the SAPRC, evaluate policies and procedures regarding Title IX, and work closely with the Vice President of Standards and Policy.
