Alpha Psi Lambda responds to Hurricane Harvey

Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. extends its thoughts to all those who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey and we extend our deepest sympathies to those who have suffered a tragic loss of life.

The state of Texas was in the direct path as Harvey made landfall, with the city of Houston impacted the greatest. Thousands have been displaced and are actively searching for secured shelter. The City of Houston, with support from Mayor Sylvester Turner, wants to remind residents that immigration status will not be a factor in receiving emergency aid and no one will be turned away at shelters.

We extend much appreciation to our Chapter leadership who have confirmed that all undergraduate members in the affected areas are safe and accounted for, though many had to evacuate the area and continue to face difficulties as rain and floods persist.  We hope for a safe outcome for all and our thoughts are with all who continue to be impacted. We are encouraged by our Alpha Beta Chapter (University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley) who has already began collecting disaster relief items for donation.

While the full extent of the Harvey’s damage is not known, we encourage all who can to participate in relief efforts. The organizations below are accepting donations and directing them towards Hurricane Harvey relief:
