Chicago, IL - The National Executive Board recognizes the need to do more to prevent and educate our members on sexual assault and provide support to survivors. As a followup to our initial statement in June 2020, we have created a new exploratory committee, the Sexual Assault Prevention and Resource (SAPR) Committee. The mission of the SAPR Committee is to improve protocols for addressing concerns of sexual assault and foster conversations on how to provide resources, trainings, and updates for our membership.

In addition to the committee, the National Office is taking the following steps to implement training and awareness:

  • Requiring members to complete LaunchPoint Consulting Greek Foundations webinar modules on mental health, hazing, alcohol and other drugs, and sexual violence.
  • Adding resources on the National Website covering a variety of topics including sexual violence and survivor support.
  • Conducting a National Fraternity campaign for Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.
  • Training on Title IX for all National Office volunteers.
  • Researching protocols of other organizations and institutions to make adjustments and improvements on reporting and addressing incidents involving sexual misconduct.
  • Participating in NALFO’s Sexual Assault Awareness & Action Committee (SA3C) to identify best practices and strategies focusing on prevention, training, policies and reporting.

Sexual misconduct can have devastating effects on the health and well-being of members of all communities — it has no place in Alpha Psi Lambda. We will continue to work with our NALFO peers to make improvements and create awareness for our Greek Life Community.
