Chicago, IL - On Monday, new regulations released by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced, “Nonimmigrant F-1 and M-1 students attending schools operating entirely online may not take a full online course load and remain in the United States. The U.S. Department of State will not issue visas to students enrolled in schools and/or programs that are fully online for the fall semester nor will U.S. Customs and Border Protection permit these students to enter the United States.”1

We value the cultural and educational impacts our international members give to our organization and our country. Our National Office will do everything we can to support our members and chapters that may be affected by this.

Colleges and Universities are diligently figuring out the best way to safely reopen in their communities. During this time of global pandemic and ever changing immigration restrictions, our students should not have to add another worry. We urge ICE to allow any international student with a valid visa to continue their education regardless of their respective universities reopening plan.
